OK

yeah, just watched it and...I'm quite divided

We all at least half expected that this will happen, but frankly

Episode itself was great, recurring villains were nice touch and all.
The Industrial Equestria from "Sombra" timeline reminded me start of war with Zebras in Fallout Equestria backstory
Starlight rose in my eyes when she became a true villain

...then FALL
really? THAT was her reason? I mean come, on writers...you lost friend and you let the whole world burn for that?

what really makes me disappointed was that quick ending. We all expected that Starlight will be reformed, but just like that?

I know, I know - love and tolerate but really?
few words...tears in eyes, and 180° turnaround after all she has done?
and all just like "Let's forgive her - we are not mad at all that you've tried to brainwash us, locked us in a cell for days, took our marks and personality from us, tried to kill us, and then tried to destroy the whole world. Lets sing a song!!"

so yeah, I didn't wanted HER to be reformed I never found her way too interesting character so I didn't wanted her even to die, just to be banished and leave the scene...  out of eyes, out of mind.... FOREVER!

well, at least our villains are scarce now, so we may see true Sombra or Chrysalis return (outside of comics, that is)
also, yeah I actually never noticed that Starlight has quite pleasant color palette and nice hair...and maybe... maybe as a good character she may get that character depth she was mising as a villain, so I'll give her a chance

I didn't enjoy the quick turnaround or the reasoning of her whole plan. I don't know if it was intentional or not but the two episodes she appears in the background kind of have the same theme for her reasoning. Some people say she is similar to Moondancer. When she felt abandoned by her friend she went to an extreme to prevent being hurt again. And kind of the same as Twilight in "What About Discord". She felt a good deal of jealousy and abandonment, feeling that she was left out. And I guess Starlight didn't know the world would be destroyed and assumed the present she saw was simply a trick by Twilight. The ending could have been stronger and maybe they could have left her an antagonist a bit longer.

But, we'll see what the next season has in store and she'll get a little more fleshing out. She might even meet her old friend and accept that he moved on for some closure.
